Key quest items such as rare books can’t be accessed and viewed in your inventory like they could in Fable 1 and 2. Instead the only way to find out which you have is to take them to the academy in Brightwall and place them on their corresponding displays. You’ll have visit each stand in turn until you see the A symbol appear, because each book is placed on a specific stand.

Once placed on the stands you can re-read the books by clicking A to see which ones they are.

You take them to the Library in Brightwall. There’s a room to your right (I think, been a while since I’ve played), with several pedestals. Move around the room until you find the right pedestal for the book that you’re carrying, and then it gets placed on display.
