Is it normal to dress “festively” for a book release?

Question by FillMyEmptyRoomWithTheSun: Is it normal to dress “festively” for a book release?
Suppose I attend a midnight book release. Should I dress according to that book? Would it be appropriate to dress like a certain character, or type of character for that book?

I remember at one of the Harry Potter releases, there were people in wizard hats or with lightning scars on their foreheads.

So basically, would the same concept be accepted for a different book release?

Thanks a bunch!

Answer by Graceful Little Alice
Yes, dressing up is usually a good idea.

I’ll be going to the one for Breaking Dawn soon, and I’ll be going as Alice Cullen, in one of the few outfits described. My friend claims to not have nearly enough grace to pass as a vampire, and is instead going as a Team Edward supporter (we’re making out own shirts to do so). Design your own shirt if you don’t want to go as a character. I’m not sure what book you’re going to the release for, but there’s got to be SOMETHING you can put on a shirt!

?Graceful Little Alice?

What are good places in downtown Detroit to host a graphic novel release party?

Question by bucksfan_1979: What are good places in downtown Detroit to host a graphic novel release party?
We are considering debuting our upcoming graphic novel at Detroit FanFare 2011 in September and would like to host a promotional book release party to coincide with the convention.

Anyone have a suggestion on where to have the party? The con is at Cobo Hall, so closer to that is better.

Andrew Byrne Announces Release of First Words

OAK PARK, Ill. (PRWEB) May 24, 2013

Inspired by his love of words, author Andrew Byrne decided to write First Words (published by iUniverse), a collection of poetry that takes sound and word comprehension and merges the two together to form poems that will help readers find inspiration in their life.

The collection of poetry combines the authors strong voice and clever wit to help readers see, through an often humorous lens, how vulnerable humans are in personal relationships, as well as in society. Each poem helps readers, as the author states, dream on when a dream is given up, witness the struggles of others to get through a day, see the ravaging power of jealousy or rage when unleashed against another person, and see the power of nature help them commune with their own inner self.

Albert DeGenova, poet, editor and publisher of After Hours magazine says, First Words is a diverse collection of poetry that shares one mans view of the world, designed to provoke emotion, humor and, most importantly, reflection on the beauty of life. It is a journey to remember.

I want readers to feel like they themselves are moving through these poems. That it is they who are dreaming or confronting something about themselves, says Byrne. I want readers to take away that ancient deep abiding belief in the enduring power of nature to release ourselves from our self, to free our imagination and to understand what can be had for a moment’s time letting the mind wander and perhaps grasp the faint recognition of our own impossibly beautiful and fragile place in creation.

Kenny Ferguson Announces Release of The Lost Lamb

METUCHEN, N.J. (PRWEB) May 12, 2013

In The Lost Lamb (published by iUniverse), veteran author Kenny Fergusons new novel, readers explore the reality of miracles, forgiveness and the power of second chances with Angus Branigan.

Angus Branigan is a 38-year-old abusive husband and father. Hes a compulsive gambler, lazy, self-centered good-for-nothing. One day, while attempting to get away from the police after a botched robbery, he is shot in the back three times.

As Angus stumbles through the streets and alleys in lower Manhattan during a thunderstorm, bleeding, he finds himself at the Epiphany Church. Alone and dying, he argues his right to live with the statue of a shepherd holding a baby lamb. As his breath escapes him, he magically swaps his soul with that of the statue and finds himself outside the church uninjured, wearing an expensive suit with money in its pocket.

What does this mean for Angus? Is this his chance at a second attempt at life, or has he already passed and this is only a dream? Throughout The Lost Lamb, readers will follow Angus as he tries to figure out what has happened to him and just how powerful the Lord is.

An excerpt from the book:

Six-year old, Adam Branigan remembers the times he was struck by his father but follows him because he thinks his father is leaving him forever today. I need you, Daddy. The boy cried, Angus needs you and Mommy needs you too. She said you werent coming back.
