Inspired by his love of words, author Andrew Byrne decided to write First Words (published by iUniverse), a collection of poetry that takes sound and word comprehension and merges the two together to form poems that will help readers find inspiration in their life.

The collection of poetry combines the authors strong voice and clever wit to help readers see, through an often humorous lens, how vulnerable humans are in personal relationships, as well as in society. Each poem helps readers, as the author states, dream on when a dream is given up, witness the struggles of others to get through a day, see the ravaging power of jealousy or rage when unleashed against another person, and see the power of nature help them commune with their own inner self.

About the Author

Andrew Byrne graduated from Loyola University in Chicago. He has published poems and fiction in After Hours magazine, The Chicago Reader, Poetry Quarterly and Oyez Review. His short story, Delores Decides to Die, was produced and staged in 2004. He and his wife, Sharon, live in Oak Park, Ill. They have three children.
