What are some cheaper alternatives to textbooks for homeschooling?

You can find used textbooks online. I always start with bookfinder.com which list them from a lot of sources including used on Amazon.
Libraries have ebooks, even textbooks. We used a biology one last year. You download it, and it is yours to keep.
Look on Amazon and when you find the text, see if there is an older edition. You can usually find one a few years older than the schools use, for a few dollars! Then match up workbooks and teacher guides available used (unused though!).
Or don’t use textbooks at all. Read a novel and write essays, contrast them to the movie, take quizzes you find online. Do hands-on science experiments and demonstrations.
If you want a foreign language try livemocha or our library has Mango.
History can be non-fiction from the library, or archeology magazines.
There are some fun ones on universalclass.com. Don’t pay for the certificate, there is an option not to and it is cheaper. You can sign up for an entire year of unlimited classes for 189.00.

I don’t understand the purpose of making the textbook difficult to carry. Textbooks are so heavy and causing my shelve to distort. When I was in high school, I always had to carry 60lbs of books in my backpack. Why can’t publishers use a different material to make books ? In China and India the textbooks are very light and easy to transport, so it can be done.

idk it pisses me off too. i had a sore back every single day. it was horrible and most of the material we never got to anyways

Where is the best pace to sell textbooks?

Question by : Where is the best pace to sell textbooks?
I am trying to sell textbooks and other items to an online company but I can not decide which one to go with. I have heard that some give you high quotes and then reduce your payment without a good reason. Also I have other things to sell like novels, movies and a few CDs. Some places I checked were only interested in buying textbooks. Is there reliable online company that I can just sell all of my things at once?

I would recommend you selll it yourself at amazon or half market places.. Else the not very best option is to check what buyback companies are willing to offer for the same book.
